Upolu Airport (UPP)
General information and facts about the Upolu
Airport on northern tip of the Big Island of Hawaii.
The Upolu Airport is a general aviation facility
located on the northern-most
tip of the big Island of Hawaii, about three miles
from the town of Hawi. It has a single runway
and two parking areas, one for the passenger terminal
and one near the general aviation tie-down area..
The airport does not have an air traffic control tower
or facilities.
Access to the airport is via a small road that
connects the airportwith the Akoni POule Highway.
In the long term, if traffic increases, the State
of Hawaii may decide to build a poarallel taxiway
south of the runway, and they might move the
terminal farther away fromthe runway to provide
better clearance and additional aircraft parking.
