more then 3000 Kauai residents and Hawaii visitors showed up at
Nawiliwili Harbor to view a prototype of the new Hawaii Superferry.

Hawaii Superferry Signs Agreement With Austal
In January of 2004, the Hawaii Superferry announced
that the four-story, 340-foot catamarans to be
used for the Hawaii Superferry service wil be built by Austal USA.

The Hawaii Superferry signed an agreement to purchase
two high-speed ferries, costing $75 million each,
and at the time of this article they hoped to begin ferry service in 2006.

On June 3, 2004 a traditional Hawaiian blessing
was held in Mohile, Alabama to mark the beginning
of construction of the first Hawaii Superferry
vessel.

Hawaii Superferry as Secured a Pact to Buy Two Ships
The vision of an interisland ferry system has taken another
step forward, with a shipbuilder signing a conditional agreement
to supply two 340-foot catamaran vessels to Hawaii Superferry,
contingent on a series of financing arrangements.
