Air Merger Could Spur Ferry Service
The possible 2001 merger of Aloha and Hawaiian airlines increased Hawaii's interest in founding an interisland ferry. At least one company, Rainbow Island Express, says it could start an interisland ferry system transporting passengers and their cars, with rates competitive with airlines, within two years.
