Afong Villa and Hawaii Army Museum
Waikiki Historic Trail Marker 14

Marker #14 on the Waikiki Historic Trail is located behind the United States Army Museum in Fort DeRussy Park on the former site of the home of Chinese millionaire Chun Afong.

Marker 14 - Ah Fong Villa and Hawaii Army Museum

Marker number 14 on the Waikiki Historic Trail tells the story of Chun Afong, who arrived in Honolulu in 1849 and became Hawaii's first Chinese millionaire. His home sat on the site now occupied by the United States Army Museum in Fort DeRussy Park. Mr Afong made his money in retail stores, selling real estate, and selling sugar and rice. He also held the only license issued by the Government in Hawaii for the Opium trade.
