Kayaking on Oahu
Articles and information about kayaking on the Hawaiian island of Oahu,
including kayak rentals, shops, clubs, and companies who organize
guided Oahu kayaking tours. It is possible to rent kayaks in
Waikiki, but some of the best places on Oahu to go kayaking
are in Kailua Bay on the eastern windward side of the island.
Kayaking in Kailua Bay
Kailua Bay on the windward side of Oahu is one of
the best places in Hawaii for kayaking. there are
several kayak rental shops in that area and kayaks
are often launched off of
Kailua Beach and
Lanikai Beach.
Much of Kailua Bay has a flat, sandy bottom and the
Mokulua Islands off the coast can be reached by kayak
in one hour or less. The wind and water in Kailua Bay
is typically calm, and the calmest of all in the morning
before the trade winds pick up.
