Phoenix Hall at the Byodo-In Temple
Kaneohe, Oahu, Hawaii
The main building of Oahu's Byodo-In Temple is called
Hoo-do, or Phoenix Hall,
because it was built to represent the mythical Phoenix,
with the main building being the bird's body and the
side extensions being the bird's outstretched wings.
There are also two Phoenix birds mounted on the top of
the center part of the building.
