The Waikiki Plantation Spa
Waikiki, Oahu, Hawaii

The most unique thing about the Waikiki Plantation Spa is its location high above Waikiki, on the 17th and 18th floors of the Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach Hotel. Few hotels would consider using their best space - the top floor - for their spa and fitness center, but that's what makes the Waikiki Plantation Spa special. There is even an express elevator that takes spa clients directly to the 17th floor.

The 4000 square foot Waikiki Plantation Spa has six treatment rooms, including two rooms designed for facials and massage therapy, two multiple-treatment rooms with Vichy showers, and two rooms designed for couples getting treatments together. Other spa facilities include two peaceful indoor lounges, a spa shop, a whirlpool and separate locker rooms for men and women with steam rooms and showers. The spa's rooftop sundeck has beautiful views of the sea and clients are invited to sit out there and relax while they watch the ocean, listen to the waves, read, or order a meal between spa treatments. Spa clients are also invited to work out in the 1000 square foot fitness center located adjacent to the spa. The fitness center has free weights, seven weight machines, and seven cardiovascular machines including elliptical trainers, treadmills, and recumbent bicycles.

A wide range of treatments are available at the Waikiki Plantation Spa including many different types of massage, facials, exfoliations, body wraps, body scrubs, scalp treatments, waxing, sunless tanning, manicures, pedicures, makeup applications, and special treatments for sunburned skin, teenagers, men, and pregnant women. Some of the spa's treatments incorporate ancient Ayurveda techniques or products made with Hawaiian ingredients such as sugar cane, sea salt, pineapple, macadamia nuts, coconut, green tea, white tea, coffee, and oils of kukui and macadamia nuts. The spa also offers specially priced packages ranging from a two hour package that includes a seaweed wrap, foot massage, scalp massage, and facial to the ultimate in luxury, a six hour package that includes a body wrap, Vichy shower, massage, facial, manicure, pedicure, paraffin foot treatment, and lunch.

The spa was designed by Larry Stricker and created By Sheryl Bell, who also created the Outrigger's Serenity Spa at the Outrigger's Reef Hotel. The Waikiki Plantation Spa opened its doors for the first time on June 19, 2006. The spa was the last phase of a multi million dollar renovation project intended to upgrade the Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach Hotel to a more exclusive category.

The Waikiki Plantation Spa is located in the center of Waikiki, on Kalakaua Avenue, on the top two floors of the Outrigger Waikiki Beach Hotel. That hotel is located between the historic Manoa and Royal Hawaiian Hotels, across the street from the International Marketplace, and next to the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center. The hotel often has spa packages available that include a hotel room for three nights, a $200 credit at the Waikiki Plantation Spa, and a spa amenities gift basket. The spa and its rooftop terrace can be booked for private parties, bridal showers, spa parties, and other special events.
