Hawaii State Wayside Parks on Oahu

The official state roadside parks in Hawaii are called "wayside parks" and on Oahu there are four of them: Laie Point, Makapuu Point, Nuuanu Pali, and Puu Ualakaa. These parks typically have beautiful views and sometimes picnic facilities and restrooms.

Nuuanu Pali State Wayside Park
A 3 acre roadside park in the Koolau Mountains with a beautiful panoramic view of the windward coast of Oahu from the edge of a 1200 foot cliff.

Puu Ualakaa State Wayside Park
A 50 acre forest park on a cinder cone near downtown Honolulu. A lookout point inside the park, on Mount Tantalus Drive, offers views of Diamond Head, the Manoa Valley, Honolulu, and Pearl Harbor.

Laie Point State Wayside Park
A 1.5 acre Windward Oahu roadside park on Laie Bay, with beautiful views of an offshore arch, a bird sanctuary island, and a small rocky peninsula.

Makapuu Point State Wayside Park
A 38 acre roadside park featuring a hike along the road to the Makapuu Lighthouse. At the top of a 600 cliff there are two observation platform for viewing Manana Island, Kaohikaipu Island, and the southeast coast of Oahu.
