Molokai Ranch is the common name for Molokai Properties Limited,

and a beautiful white sand beach.
History of Molokai Ranch
In 1897, a group of businessmen purchased
70,000 acres on the western half of Molokai
and leased another 30,000 acres from the
government. They opened a ranch on the property,
and they raised cattle, horses, mules, and sheep.
They leased some of their property to
Libby and Del Monte for pineapple cultivation
between 1923 and 1985. Molokai Properties Limited
was a privately owned company until the 1980's,
when it was purchased by
BIL International Limited of Singapore.

The Molokai Properties plan to build a $200 million,
1432 development at Molokai's La'au Point has generated
a lot of controversy. One of the goals of the Laau Point
Development Project is to finance remodeling and reopening
the Kaluakoi Resort on Molokai. The Molokai Ranch
has been losing money in recent years and the developers
say without the Laau Point project they may be forced
to break the ranch up into smaller parcels and sell them.
In change for developing Laau Point, the Molokai Ranch
agreed to give more then 50,000 acres to the community,
