Nude Beaches on Kauai

Information about nude beaches on the island of Kauai in Hawaii.

The Kauai beaches listed on this page have the reputation of being beaches where nude sunbathing is tolerated, but you need to know that public nudity is not legal in Hawaii and there are no legal nude beaches. You can always be cited if you take off your clothes in a public place in Hawaii. I have heard rumors that Kauai is getting more strict about enforcing Hawaii's anti-nudity laws.

Kauapea Beach (aka Secret Beach)
This 3000 foot sandy beach is not visible from any road, and at one time that made it a favorite spot for nude sunbathing and swimming. The beach can only be seen from the Kilauea Point National Wildlife Refuge. I have heard Kauapea Beach is not as popular with naturists these days because the beach is patrolled more often to discourage nude sunbathing. I'm not sure what the situation is today.

Larsen's Beach
I have heard some of the people who use to sunbathe nude at Kauapea Beach have moved to Larsen's Beach. Most locals will not be surprised to see nude sunbathers at Larsen's Beach, but - as at any of Hawaii's beaches - you could be cited if someone who objects sees you doing it.

Donkey Beach
This beach is located just north of Kapaa on the east shore of Kauai. Donkey Beach is on private property and I'm not sure the current owner allows nude sunbathing.
