The fern grotto is a cave surrounded by ferns and lush vegetation that is located on the banks of the Wailua River on the east side of Kauai. One of the most popular visitor activities on Kauai is taking a boat excursion on the Wailua River to visit the fern grotto. It is also possible to rent a kayak and paddle to the grotto. The fern grotto and nearby Paradise Gardens are two of the most popular wedding venues on Kauai.

Cruise on the Wailua River in an open air boat and take a short nature walk through a rainforest to view the fern grotto. The round trip takes about an hour and twenty minutes.
