Historic Labor Strikes in Hawaii
1924
In 1924 Filipino laborer Pablo Manlapit led an
eight-month strike of plantation workers on Kauai.
1949
In 1949 Jack Hall led a six-month strike by the
International Longshoreman's and Warehouseman's
Union. Jack Hall and six codefendents are
convicted June 17, 1953 under the anti-Communist
Smith Act.
