Tourism Industry Urged to Market to Gays
According to this 2001 article in the Honlulu Star Bulletin newspaper, the marketing manager of the Hawaii Tourism Authority urged his organization to actively market Hawaii to the gay and lesbian community.

Reciprocal Beneficiary Relationships in Hawaii
Hawaii does not allow gay marriages but it does recognize what it calls "reciprocal beneficiary relationships", which is a legal partnership between two people who are prohibited from marriage. This partnership gives both prties certain rights and benefits that would otherwise be available only to married couples.
