Do's and Don't's in Hawaii
Here are some tips about things to do and things not to do
if you want to fit right in when you're visiting Hawaii.
Do use "aloha" to say hello and goodbye., but say it in a
normal tone of voice, not drawn out and emphasizing the last
syllable like the tour operators do.
Do pull over periodically when you're driving aroundan island
if cars are piling up behind you. You want to let the locals
go by.
Do remove your shoes before entering a home
Do wear Aloha shirts and other Hawaiian print clothing.
If you are a couple, don't wearing matching Hawaiian print clothing.
Always wear sunscreen on your entire body, even on cloudy days.
Eat plate lunches like the locals
Wear rubber slippers like the locals
"Take nothing away and leave nothing"
Don't swim at sunset, because that's feeding time
Do show respect at Hawaiian cultural
and archeological sites.
Don't wear bathingsuits anywhere except the beach
Don't scream when you see a gecko.
Smile a lot and have fun!
Do hang something on the rear view mirror of your
rental car or tie a ribbon on the antennae so you
can easily recognize it.
Don't sleep on deserted beaches.
Don't ever turn your back on the ocean.
Don't Try to speak pidgin like the locals
Don't feed animals or fish in Hawaii
Don't leave valuables in your car or even in
the trunk of your car.
Don't leave your wallet, purse, or other valuables
on the beach when you swim.
