2007 Lei Day Events in Hawaii
Events celebrating the 80th annual Lei Day holiday which
took place in Hawaii on May 1, 2007.
May 1, 2007 (all islands)
Wear a Lei on May Day
It is a longtime tradition in Hawaii to wear a flower lei
on May 1. Almost everybody does it from little kids in school, to Waikiki
visitors, to executives at Hawaii's top corporations.
May 1, 2007 (Oahu)
Kapiolani Park Lei Day Festival
On Tuesday May 1st there will be an Oahu Lei Day Celebration in
Kapiolani Park from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The event will feature
music by the Makaha Sons, Kapena, and the
Royal Hawaiian Band.
The 2007 Lei Queen and her Royal Court will be presented and
there will also be lei exhibits and food booths. For more information

May 1, 2007 (Oahu)
Cazimero Brothers Waikiki Shell Concert
The annual Brothers Cazimero Lei Day Concert at the Waikiki
Shell in Kapiolani Park will begin at 7:30 p.m. on
May 2, 2007. Call
877-750-4400 to purchase tickets. Guest performers will
include winners of Hilo's Merrie Monarch Hula Festival
and Miss Aloha Hula Keonilei Fairbanks.
May 1, 2007 (Big Island)
Hilo Lei Making Competition
There will be a lei making competition and
a Lie Day Queen pageant on May 1, 2007
at the Mooheau Bandstand in Downtown Hilo on the
Big Island of Hawaii.
May 1, 2007 (Kauai)
Lihue May Day Lei Contest and Fair
The 26th annual Lihue May Day Lei Contest and Fair
will take place at the Kauai Museum on May 1, 2007.
Contest entries can be submitted on the day of the
contest from 7:00 to 9:00 a.m. There will be
arts and crafts and food vendors on the museum lawn from
9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. For more information

May 1, 2007 (Lanai)
Lanai Schools Lei Day Celebration
Live entertainment provided by high school and
elementary school students on the island of Lanai.
Begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Pedro Dela Cruz Gym at
Lanai High and Elementary School at
555 Fraser Avenue in Lanai City. For more information

Kawaiahao Church Lei Day Ceremony
There will be a lei day ceremony and service at the
historic Kawaiahao Church in the capitol district
of Downtown Honolulu on May 2, 2007 beginning at 9:00 a.m. Phone

May 2, 2007 (Maui)
Brothers Cazimero Maui Arts Center Concert
Robert and Roland Cazimero will perform a second Lei Day
Concert at the Maui Arts Center on May 2, 2007. Tickets cost $10 to $40.
The show will begin at 7:30 p.m. and pre-show activities,
featuring hula dancing, music, arts and crafts, and food booths
will begin at 5:30 in the Yokouchi Founders Court
May 5, 2007 (Big Island)
Waikoloa May Day Hoolaulea
The Kings Shops at the Waikoloa Beach Resort
will present a May Day Festival on Saturday May 5
featuring Hawaiian culture exhibitions,
arts and crafts, cooking demonstrations, and
Hawaiian music on the center stage.
May 6, 2007 (Big Island)
Hilo Palace Theater Lei Day Festival
On Sunday, May 6, 2007 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
there will be Lei Day Celebration at the
historic Palace Theater in the city of Hilo
on the Big Island. There will be hula dancing
and live music on stage plus historic slides
and short films of master lei makers. At
the end of the event their will be a community
sing-along of "May Day is Lei Day in Hawaii"
accompanied by the theater's historic pipe organ.
