About the Author

Born in Utica, New York, Allan Beekman has lived 63 years in Honolulu. Fluent in Japanese, and a scholar in Japanese immigrant history, he was the first to uncover the details of this incident. He is also the author of "Crisis, The Japanese Attack on Pearl Harbor and Southeast Asia" and "Hawaiian Tales". Allan Beekman died in October of 2001.
