Lava Tree State Monument
Big Island of Hawaii
Lava Tree State Monument is a forest of lava
trees located about three miles southeast of Pahoa Town, in
the Puna District, on the east side of the Big Island
of Hawaii. The strange volcanic features
in the park are the result of a lava flow that swept
through a forest of ohio trees in 1790.
There are picnic tables in the park and a loop trail
through the lava trees that is less then a mile long.
