Historic Plantation Tours and Museums

Historic tours and farming tours of Hawaii's pineapple, macadamia nut, flower, rice, taro, and sugar plantations.

Oahu Plantation Tours

Hawaii's Plantation Village
An outdoor museum highlighting the multi-cultural lifestyle of Hawaii's sugar and pineapple plantations. Located on the south side of Oahu, in the town of Waipahu. This is one of my favorite museums on Oahu.

Dole Plantation
The Dole Pineapple Plantation offers a narrated trainride through pineapple fields, the world's largest maze, and a tour of the plantation's gardens. Located near the town of Wahiawa in central Oahu.

Big Island Plantation Tours

Mauna Loa Macadamia Nuts
A visit to this macadamia nut plantation on the Big Island of Hawaii includes a stop at their visitor's center and gift shop, driving through the macadamia nut orchards, watching the activities inside the nut and chocolate processing factory. There is also a snackbar featuring macadamia nut specialties.

Maui Plantation Tours

Alexander & Baldwin Sugar Museum
This 1800 square foot museum in Puunene is located next to Hawaii's largest working sugar factory. The museum highlights the history of the sugar industry in Hawaii and its effect on the development of Maui's water resources and multi-ethnic population.

Kapalua Pineapple Plantation Tour
This two hour walking tour led by actual plantation workers covers pineapple plantation history and facts about growing pineapples. Visitors get to pick their own fresh pineapple.
