Luaus in Hawaii
Where to find a luau in the
Hawaiian islands, including luaus on Oahu, Maui, Kauai, and
the Big Island of Hawaii.
A luau is a feast of traditional Hawaiian foods,
usually including a pig baked in an imu, or underground
oven. Luaus frequented by visitors to Hawaii
also include a show with Polynesian music, singing,
and dancing.
Oahu Luaus
The huge Paradise Cove Luau and the more intimate
Germaine's Luau are located on the leeward side of Oahu
about 40 minutes from Waikiki. The Polynesian
Cultural Center's Ali'i Luau is in Laie, on the opposite
side of the island, and the elegant Royal Hawaiian
Luau is on the beach in Waikiki.
Big Island Luaus
The luau at the remote but luxurious Kona Village Resort
has been operating for more then 25 years, and there
are also luaus at Kona Beach Hotel and the Royal Kona Resort.
Maui Luaus
The Old Lahaina Luau is one of the most
highly rated luaus in the Hawaiian Islands.
Other popular luaus on Maui take place at
the Hyatt Regency, Maui Marriott,
and the Outrigger Wailae Resorts.
Kauai Luaus
On the island of Kauai, three well-known
luaus are Gaylord's Reflections of Paradise Luau,
Smith's Tropical Paradise Luau, and the luau
held at the luxurious Princeville Resort.
