Last week the United States 9th Circuit Appeals Court upheld the city and county of Honolulu's ban on aerial advertising. The court said the Honolulu law is a reasonable restriction on speech, and that Hawaii has a right to protect the landscape it made famous. Hawaii has no billboards or other prominent outdoor advertising, and aerial advertising has been banned on Oahu since 1978. The Center for Bio-Ethical Reform, an anti-abortion group, said it plans to appeal the decision to the United States Supreme Court. For more information see First Amendment Center Article.
